Guess What?!!

Lots of new things happening!  We are in the process of developing a family gallery across the front of my husband's business, Metro Glass.  My artwork (originals, prints and notecards), Jennifer's frames and photography, and hopefully soon, Lindsay's photography, will be on display.  Jennifer and Lindsay are my daughters.  They are both "shutterbugs"!

We are also carrying Tyler Candles!!  Everyone loves Tylers!  No! These are not candles made by my son-in-love, Tyler!!!  Who knows what else may appear!

Come by for a visit and pick up an Easter basket gift or Mother's Day, or even a Father's Day gift!  There's something for everyone!!

Today, in the spirit of Miscellany Monday, I'm gonna share a recent collaborative endeavor!

A couple months ago me and five fellow artists opened an art gallery and gift shop in the heart of the downtown Mobile art district.  It took off!  The little gallery called Art(ology) was featured on the front page of the Arts section in the Press Register Sunday!  I'm attaching the link to the full article.  Read it when you get a chance!  Better yet, drop in for a visit!!!

Cake & Champagne!

ArtOlogy has it's grand opening during ArtWalk Friday! Cake & Champagne! The gallery has been transformed in a short period of time. We still have changes to make and will do as the budget permits! Nice selection of fine art, funky art, jewelry, prints and notecards all around! Start-up was a lot of work for everyone. After the grand opening, we will settle into the routine and hopefully we will all find time to tap into the creative mode again! I've honored and privileged to be included with a wonderful group of artists and fabulous women to boot! Eager to do my part and step up to the challenge!

Art(ology)

There's a new gallery in town! It's right in the heart of the art district in downtown Mobile on Cathedral Square. A fabulous group of artists. A great group of women. A funky, eclectic collection of fine art and fabulous gift ideas! All this birthed from a dream of local artist, Ardith Goodwin. We'll be open the 6th. Stop by, but pardon the process cause we still have some tweaking and polishing to do before the grand opening during Artwalk. We are located on Dauphin Street next to Spot of Tea at Cathedral Square. It's gonna be a beautiful weekend to explore downtown with all its great galleries, gift shops and restaurants!

C'mon down and take a look and meet the participating artists! Our visions are coming together in this colorful, upbeat and lively art gallery and gift shop. Ardith Goodwin Gail Wilson, Marsha Sutton, Claire Noojin, Michelle Leech and myself invite you to stop by Art(ology) for a visit! You never know what you might find all funked up in this delightful little space!!

Love it, Duh!

Several years ago I made my first trip to Duh! in Pensacola and fell in love with, well, duh, EVERYTHING! I brought home this beautiful mosaic pot. Just look at all the color and patterns dancing around it! The pot has sat on my back porch welcoming visitors ever since. I've always wanted to do a mosaic with old dishes and never got around to it. This was such a beauty and reminded me of my grandmother's old plates. It just kept saying 'take me home, take me home' !! Hoping that one day it will inspire me to smash a few things and do my own piece. I've been saving an old card table to try it on ... one day!

Last spring I noticed a huge crack down both sides and learned that the lengthy freezing temps we had last winter likely caused the pot to do whatever pottery does with extreme temperature changes. My husband helped me take the plant out of it and I cleaned it up and brought it inside. I'm gonna try to repair it with epoxy. Adding that to my to-do list for next week.

I haven't made it back to the store since that trip, but goody for me, Duh! sets up at the Festival of Flowers every year too! Right here in Mobile! Can't wait! Every year I come home with something fabulous from their tent as well as other tents! BTW, I'll be setting up a tent at the FOF next year with my artwork. You can preview at my website http://www.tkellerart.com/ . My daughter Jennifer and a couple other artists will join me. Jen does some fabulous photography! Check out Jennifer's work on Facebook and at http://www.soulshinegallery.blogspot.com/ .

Zippity doo dah!

Speaking of which.....I felt a little zip in my doo-dah today!!! LOL! Had a new piece of artwork framed for ArtWalk ---- which by-the-way is this Friday. ArtWalk downtown Mobile is every second Friday of each month....all year long! Spent morning at oncologist's office with aunt who was scheduled for chemo today. Her oncologist was my mom's too. Lots of nurses came out and spoke to me about mom. It was a low morning. But after getting away from there I got busy preparing for Artwalk. This will be my first "feature" event since I joined the gallery. I haven't been able to attend ArtWalk the last three months. Looking forward to it! The theme this month is "From a Child's Eye" whimsical in nature. Come out! Enjoy! Belly up to the oyster bar at Wentzell's afterwards!

Takin' it as it comes these days...

What a roller coaster ride my life has been the last year. My mom's illness has been a priority for me. Followed closely by my daughter's pregnancy. Now the baby is due within four days....scheduled for delivery on Monday, July 13th. My birhtday is July 12th so I'm hoping she'll wiggle on out Sunday night! We need a bright spot in our lives right now. My mom is so desperately ill. She's in the hospital now...struggling to breathe...multiple problems related to illness since last August. She's so tired and frail.

When I'm not immobilized with worry, I'm trying to stay busy preparing for Baby Keller's arrival, and with my art business. A new gallery is in the works at Metro Glass. I'm re-vamping the front entry space all the way across the building! There will be several artists represented, including myself. We hope to have it ready by the first of August. Very excited!

I'm also working on a few new pieces for the August ArtWalk "From a Child's Eye" theme, as well as trying to keep up with all the locations carrying my artwork. Currently a work in progress is my attempt at a self-portrait I posted above! It's only about 50% done. I need to work on the complexion and don't particularly like the mouth....so it's gonna get painted out and re-done. Probably need to add a touch more gray to the hair ... no feedback on that one necessary!
