Semi-Wordless Wednesday

It's February already!  What happened to Winter?

I could care less if we have anymore cold weather.

I love Spring!   I also love Fall!  I love gardening season!

I'm not a fan of Winter chill or Summer blazes.

I'm keeping things short today on the blog.  You're welcome!

Just a head's up on what's coming this month!

You know your ABC's, right?  Sure you do!

Since it's gonna be a relatively short month,

I'm gonna leap my way thru the ABC's

as they relate to my day-to-day, catch-as-catch-can, 

fly-by the-seat-of-my-pants existence!

The things I love.  The things I don't love so much.

There's a busy month ahead!  I've got lot's to share!

But on this dreary, cloudy (likely rainy) day,

while my girlfriends brave the weather in NOLA, 

I'm gonna hibernate inside and methodically 

move from task to task and maybe read a little.

I may even venture into my studio (if I can find it)!

Semi-Wordless Wednesday

I was gonna blog about the mint infused grapefruit sections I canned this morning (think 'grapefruit mojito'!), but since my camera isn't working and I can't share the beautiful colors of the finished product I'll blog about it later.  {was that a tease, or what?!!}.

While waiting for my Granbaby girl to arrive for a play-date with Gramma, I perused around Pinterest.  Fabric and Quilts caught my eye this morning!  I am a fabric-a-holic!  Wandering around a fabric store is like being a kid at the candy counter!  I haven't sewn in over a year.  My sewing machine doesn't have a permanent home in my studio - an issue I plan to remedy (when I find a home for the stuff occupying that space).

My maternal grandmother "mama" taught me to quilt when I was in middle school.  She taught me on an old Singer treadle machine.  Being the uncoordinated individual I am, it was somewhat a challenge to keep my foot going while trying to concentrate on guiding the fabric beneath the needle!   I still have that quilt.  It's falling apart.  But I will patch it one day.  On several occasions my girls have asked for it when they weren't feeling well.  Snuggling with it brings comfort!  It still smells like "mama" to me!   I also have one of the quilts she made, as well as a couple of quilts my paternal grandmother made (one is her yo-yo quilt!!).  My paternal grandmother also gave me her quilting frame.  I used it once, but it was so old it started falling apart.  I should have mounted it on the wall instead.  Hindsight!  I also have the old Singer sewing machine!

So much for Semi-Wordless, huh?!!  Ok!  Pictures to follow of some of the really cute quilt ideas I  saw this morning.  No pics of my own SINCE THE CAMERA CARD ISN'T WORKING!  {sorry!  venting!)

Semi-Wordless Wednesday

Everyone has a lot on the to-do list during the holiday season!

I've had to push about 80% of mine aside and just go with the flow.

The top of my list is to get well and not further injure my foot.

Tomorrow, we find out what direction the orthopaedic doctor wants to go in.

Thank Heaven for the Christmas Elves who put up my Christmas trees!

Now, I just need Baking Elves, Cooking Elves, Wrapping Elves and Gardening Elves!

My dear husband has the Cleaning Elf and Chauffeur Elf covered!

I've gone from being Caregiver to being cared for. 

It takes a lot of grace towards myself to let go and accept the help.

I have to let go of the attitude "If it is to be, it is up to me" for now.

I know it will all be fine.  This too will pass.  My God's got this one!

It's Semi-Wordless Wednesday

My Week, thus far . . .

The day started off with me putting away Christmas decorations. 

Of course as soon as Keller spotted the Santa hats she had to have the Ho Ho ON!

The rest of the day was great.......lunch, nap, movie, play, fall asleep half-on the blanket. 

I was sitting at the computer watching her like a good gramma, of course.  It had fallen

dark outside (5:45 pm) and I didn't turn on the light as I walked over and pulled her up onto

 the blanket.  I picked up an ink pen laying on the floor nearby (thinking I was glad

she hadn't seen it).  She was out ..... zzz z z z zzzz.  A few minutes later Lindsay

turned on the overhead light and asked me what was on her face.  I went and looked. 

OMG!

I told Lindsay "Her mom is gonna rip my eyeballs out! 

Get me some wipes and some clean clothes!" 

I proceeded to pick her up and examine her face.

Then I turned her face and saw the other side. 

Then the papparazzi returned with the clothes and camera!  

The ink came off with the wipes. 

I'm hoping the Oxyclean will take it outta her clothes. 

She just looked at me an giggled when I told her she colored so pretty!  

This is where "Semi-wordless Wednesday" steps in!!!!!

Never again will I say "You have to watch her like a hawk" .... uh-uh, not me.

I'm glad it's Wednesday and few words are required!  There's not much time for talking! As we pull off the holiday bling and splendor and catch reflective glimpses of the true "reason for the season" my wish is that you all go in peace and be blessed throughout the season and the coming year!
